What we did
The SD sealants team carried out the works on behalf of housing developers Lioncourt Homes, who provide five-star family homes across the UK. Contract partners Lioncourt assigned the team with sealing the bathrooms, internal frames, skirting and vinyl flooring of the interior of the houses as well as sealing the external frames and movement joints on the exterior of the homes.
As the building project nears completion, ensuring key sections of each room are sealed plays a crucial role in the overall construction process. Not only does sealing the internal frames, such as doors as windows, help improve airtightness and prevents unwanted air leakage, it also ensures a high-quality, aesthetic finish, which reflects the level of quality the SD Team is committed to delivering.
The team was also tasked with sealing the bathrooms, skirting, and vinyl flooring across the homes to help protect the building as well as improve hygiene. By sealing the joints between the skirting and the vinyl flooring, water ingress is prevented and stops any water from cleaning, spillage, or condensation from seeping underneath the flooring, which could cause problems in the future. Alongside these practicalities, it also enhances the finished appearance of these areas, contributing to a higher-quality overall look.
Alongside the internal works, SD Team was asked to complete sealant application to the exterior of the homes, including the external frames and movement joints.
This allows for the façade to move safely without cracking during expansion and contraction which can usually be caused by changes in the temperature, or weather conditions such as wind.
Results
Following their on-site presence in Worcester, SD Team completed comprehensive sealant work to both the internal and external of the new homes, showcasing their expertise and ensuring the new homes were ready for the first residents.
As a result of their work, the team were recognised by the National Housing Building Council (NHBC) for their Pride in the Job, and were presented with a highly prestigious award by the council. We are incredibly proud of the team in Worcester for their achievement, particularly as this award is only given to the top 5% of developments across the UK from approximately 8,500 sites nationwide. The team were recognised for their attention to detail and delivering consistent high standards throughout the project.
