The brief:
Liverpool Waters is part of a major regeneration scheme designed to improve housing, business opportunities, and the local economy in Liverpool’s docklands area. The building the SD Team worked on was a modern high-rise development that included 31 storeys, 278 apartments, commercial units and a roof terrace
The SD hard surface repair team were tasked with repairing damaged surfaces throughout the building to restore them back to a high standard.
Why is this work important?
The team worked as subcontractors under Vermont Construction’s supervision, following site rules, schedules, and health and safety regulations. Their work was essential to making sure the apartments were ready for handover and met quality standards.
During construction, surfaces often become damaged by tools, materials, or general site activity. Instead of replacing expensive items, the SD Team repaired them using specialist techniques.
Repairs included:
- Scratched or chipped kitchen worktops
- Damaged doors and door frames
- Marked or broken tiles
- Damage to glass, laminate, and metal surfaces
- Bathroom fixture repairs
The team used colour matching and finishing skills to make repairs invisible and ensure they matched the original materials.
The results:
During the 190 days on site, the SD Team completed over 3,000 hard surface repairs, and none of the repairs needed to be redone, demonstrating a very high standard of workmanship and attention to detail.
By completing repairs correctly the first time, Vermont Construction stayed on schedule and avoided extra costs. It also highlighted the SD Team’s expertise in finishing techniques, quality checks, and teamwork. With over 3,000 repairs completed without a single rework, the SD Team demonstrated their reliability as subcontractors, consistently delivering professional, high-quality results.
