Originally opened as an athletics stadium for the 2002 Commonwealth Games, the stadium became Manchester City’s home ground in 2003. Since then, it has also hosted a range of other events, including music concerts and other major sporting events.
The current football capacity of the stadium is 53,600. However, following a multimillion-pound redevelopment plan, the stadium will see a third tier of seats added to the North Stand, which once completed – expected by summer 2025, will expand the capacity to 62,000.
What we did
The SD Team spent around a year on the site, carrying out sealants work on behalf of SISK, who are Ireland’s leading builder and contractor and deliver projects across the UK, Ireland and Europe.
Our fully qualified and highly trained sealants professionals supported SISK on a variety of things including sealing all pre-cast concrete terracing. This involved applying protective sealant to the pre-made concrete terraces in the north stand of the stadium. Sealing this increases the durability of the concrete and prevents moisture from the rain from damaging it, extending its lifespan.
