The team at SD have been working on something very dear to their hearts this month. Sealant expert Davie Graham and his crew have been at Glenlivet Distillery in Ballindalloch, carrying out work on a brand new distilling plant which is expected to increase whiskey production three-fold once it’s complete. A job worth doing, indeed!
The expansion plans, which were announced in December 2015, had proposed to build new facilities and upgrade existing ones. They included a new distilling building, tank and equipment area, a replacement bioplant and new pipework, among other changes.
McLaughlin and Harvey Ltd have been undertaking the main building and construction work for the site over the past year, with SD teams more recently carrying out the internal and external mastic sealant works to all wall and floor joints.
The project is currently ongoing, and began in April 2017 with the likely completion date being July of this year. Davie and the team are confident that they will successfully complete all works within the three month programme, and to a very high standard.
For any whiskey aficionados out there, confirmation of this project comes at the same time that Glenlivet declared its new position as the world’s best-selling single malt Scotch whisky, overtaking William Grant & Sons’ Glenfiddich. Both brands are the only single malts to sell more than one million cases annually!
